My name is Louise, recovered alcoholic, and my sobriety date is June 30.1972
The Big Book is the core of my recovery, the first 164 pages plus The Doctor's Opinion. It was in that chapter (The Doctor's Opinion) that I had my earliest comprehension about my disease of alcoholism.I read, I studied, I analyzed, I read again and again the contents of that God-inspired text, by myself and with other alcoholics. Most every time I found new meanings and deeper appreciation for the message contained in that Big Book.I hope and pray that A.A.s message of recovery from alcoholism never changes. I consider the Big Book, a classic and needs to be preserved as such.
Because I now live in a senior living facility I cannot attend as many F2F meetings as I used to but I get a ride to one of them most every week. I resisted zoom meetings for a long while but I have changed my mind about them, and attend a few each week. I am impressed by members who sobered up with only zoom meetings but it makes me appreciate even more the power of our program.
I am grateful to our founders who had the courage to say YES when God inspired them to start Alcoholics Anonymous...we are so blessed!
