私の名前はスアン、アルコホーリックです。ソーバーを続ける中で、霊的瞬間がたくさんあったので、1 つや 2 つだけに絞るのは難しいです。非常に多くの人が、これまで私にやるべきこと（そしてやってはいけないこと）を教えてくれました。
神が私の人生に介入してくれなければ成功したはずの自殺未遂が失敗した後、私は病院で昏睡状態を過ごし、退院後は治療センターに移りました。これが私の人生最後のどん底であることを祈っています。自分の「経験と力と希望」を分かち合うアルコホーリックたちから、私は自分が1人ではないことを学びました。 私はみんなを押しのけて生きてきたし、私と同じように考え、同じように感じている人がいることも、私の生き方に解決策があることも、まったく知りませんでした。 この

に参加し、私を気遣って愛してくださる神との絆を築き、仲間を見つけられたことは、私にとってこれまでに起こった最高の出来事でした。
自分が何者なのかを知る必要があると思ったのは、ソーバーになって２年ほど経った時でした。私は息子のため、私の人生（2度の結婚に失敗し、たくさんの虐待を受けた）のさまざまな男性のために料理をしてきたが、私はどんな料理やエンターテイメントが好きなのか、あるいは相手の好きなものに合わせてきたのか、確信が持てませんでした。 そこで陶芸教室、乗馬教室、鳩狩り、初めての四輪車の運転、モザイク教室、一人旅と新しい生き方を始めました。コロラド州エステスパークへの初めての旅は素晴らしかったです。 現地でミーティングがあることを祈り、見つけたと思いましたが、私は方向音痴で地図も読めません（Siriがこんなに便利になる前の話です）。 見つからないんじゃないかと心配でした。コンドミニアムに チェックインしたとき、駐車場の真向かいにAAのミーティングが開かれている教会がありました。車で行く必要もありませんでした。 笑
翌年、メイン州に行ったとき、私はどこに行っても道に迷い続けたので、仲間が描いてくれた「地図」の絵をすべて保管しておきました。 それが私のお土産でした。 主人と結婚した後、2009年にアラスカへクルーズに行きました。 私たちはそこでミーティングに出席し、サウスダコタ出身の女性たち数人と知り合いました。私たちはサンディエゴに遊びに行き、1人はテキサスに遊びに来てくれました。 サンアントニオで開催されたインターナショナルコンベンションにも参加し、そこでも彼らと会いました。ケイ・Lは15年来の友人で、48年のソーバーです。彼女は、私の回復を助けてくれました。
私はとても恵まれていて、今の生活があることを神とAAに感謝しています。 皆さんと知り合えたことを幸せに思います。

Hi all,
My name is Suanne and I am an alcoholic. There are so many God moments since I got sober, that it's hard to pin it down to just one or two. So many people have taught me things to do (and things not to do) along the way.
After a failed suicide attempt that would have worked except that God intervened in my life, I spent time in a coma in a hospital which discharged me to a treatment center. I pray this was my last bottom. From the alcoholics who were sharing their experience, strength and hope with me, I learned I was not alone. I had lived in a world where I'd pushed everyone away and I seriously had no clue there was anybody out there that thought like me, felt things like I did, or that there was a solution to the way I'd been living. Getting into this program, having a bond with God who takes care of me and loves me, and finding my people was the best thing that ever happened to me.
I'd been sober about 2 years when I decided I needed to figure out who I was. I'd cooked for my son, for different men in my life (two failed marriages and a ton of abusive relationships), and I wasn't certain what foods/entertainment I liked or if I'd just gone along with whatever they liked. So I started a journey of pottery lessons, horseback riding lessons, dove hunting, driving a 4 wheeler for the first time, mosaic class, traveling by myself. My first trip to Estes Park, Colorado was amazing. I'd prayed about meetings there and thought I had found one but I'm directionally challenged and don't read maps (this was before Siri was so handy). I was afraid I wouldn't be able to find it. God does take care of us because when I checked into the condo, the church where the AA meeting was held was directly across the parking lot. I didn't even have to drive to it. LOL.
When I went to Maine the next year, I kept all the drawings of "maps" people drew for me because I kept getting lost everywhere I went, and meetings kept me sane. Those were my souveniers. After my hubby and I got married, we went on a cruise to Alaska in 2009. We attended meetings there and met a couple of ladies from South Dakota that we stayed in touch with. We went to SD to visit and one came to Texas to visit. We also attended the International AA Convention in San Antonio and met up with them there. Kay L has been my friend for 15 years and she has 48 years of sobriety. She has meant so much to helping my recovery grow.
I'm just so blessed and I'm grateful to God and AA for the life I have today. I'm blessed that I have gotten to know you all. Thanks for listening. Stay warm in this cold weather.
