「世界の市民になる」という言葉は、最近の私にとって様々な意味があります。
問題のある酒飲みだけでなく、AAメンバーにも手を差し伸べることが私の優先事項ですが、その他にもあらゆる人に向けて手を差し伸べることを学んでいます。多くの人が、より良い人生を送ることを妨げる問題を抱えています。それを解決してあげることは私には出来ませんが、時々耳を傾けることは出来ます。時には手を差し伸べることも出来ます。あるいは今日のように、彼らが探している部屋までホールを案内することだって出来ます。
私の親友の一人が、アルツハイマーのため介護施設に入所しました。彼女のパートナーは頻繁に彼女を訪ねていて、今日は犬のシャロームを連れてきました。彼女たちは二人ともAAメンバーです。（犬は違いますよ！）
私たちは（施設の）センターで、牧師による（修正された？）教会礼拝を行なっていました。誰でも参加できる集会です。礼拝に来たいのに、行き方がわからなくて来られない入所者が何人かいたので、私が道案内をしました。
サービスAAの奉仕活動
シートに従おうとして混乱した人もいたので、私がガイドをしました。私は祈りを読むように頼まれたので、そうしました。私は入所者の何人かとおしゃべりしました。
もし私が飲み続けていたら、この人たちの誰にも手を差し伸べることはできなかったでしょう！ 私は自分のことを第一に考えていたでしょう。私は世界の市民になったのです！

I'm Nancy and I'm alcoholic.
"Become citizens of the world" has many meanings to me these days.
Although reaching out to AA members as well as those who are problem drinkers is my priority, I'm learning to reach out to anyone I can. Many people have issues that interfere with them having a better life. I can't fix any of them, but sometimes I can listen. Sometimes I can reach out a hand. Or like today, I can guide them down a hall to the room they are looking for.
One of my good friends has been placed in a Care Facility due to her alzheimers. Her wife visits her often and today brought their dog Shalom. They are both in AA. (OK, not the dog!)
We were having a (modified) church service led by our minister at the center. All were welcome to attend. A couple of the residents who don't go to our church wanted to come, but got lost trying to get there. I showed them the way. Some got confused trying to follow the service sheet. I helped guide them. I was asked to read a prayer. I did. I chatted with several of the residents.
If I was still drinking, I would not have been able to reach out to any of these people! I would have put myself first. I'm becoming a Citizen of the World!
