の最初の頃から、「付録Ⅱ.霊的体験」からの引用である２つの考え方を覚えています。一つは、ウィリアム・ジェームズを引用した「いろいろな教育的なかたち」という霊的体験の考えでした。もう一つはハーバート・スペンサーの引用で、「あらゆる情報をはばむ障壁であり…そして人間を永遠に無知にとどめておく力を持った原理がある ――それは、調べもしないで頭から軽蔑することである」というものです。私自身がこれらの両方を経験した（あるいは他の人がそれを経験するのを見た）ので、これらの考え方は私の注意を引き、今日まで私の中に残っています。開かれた心であるようにということを、私に思い起こさせてくれます。

Hi everyone, my name is Pam and I am an alcoholic. Thank you for the topic, George. Although not necessarily read aloud often in meetings, I distinctly remember two ideas being quoted from Appendix II early on in my sobriety. One was the idea of spiritual experiences of the “educational variety” (quoting William James). The other was the quote by Herbert Spencer, “There is a principle which is a bar against all information…cannot fail to keep a man in everlasting ignorance—that principle is contempt prior to investigation.” As I personally experienced both (or observed others experiencing these), these got my attention and stay with me today, reminding me to keep my mind open.
