変化は私にとって常に四文字の言葉でした... それは、f.e.a.r（恐れ）と綴られます。ですから、AAに戻って仲間たちからアルコールなしで生きる方法を学ぶように促されたとき、私は驚きました。恐れがあったか？ありました。しかし、変わったのは、その恐れを乗り越えて進んでいく意欲でした... AA、神、そしてアルコールのない生活という未知の世界へ。変わったのは、将来がどうなるかという動けなくなるほどの不安の代わりに、一日一日を大切にすることでした。変わったのは... 私が最初のソーバーの日に、
ハイヤーパワー（HP=ハイヤーパワー）神、または高次の力、自分を超えた大きな力。意志と生き方をゆだねる対象。
が与えてくれた信仰と希望という贈り物を拒まなかったことです... 私が求めたこともないのに、存在しないと信じ込もうとしていた神からの贈り物です。その日以来、神は私の人生を祝福し続けています... 人生が何を投げかけても。時には、神と私だけがいました。時には、神が私の人生にまさに必要な人々を送り込んでくれ、その人々が光の担い手となってくれました。
変化は今でも起こりますが、私はそれを違う綴り方で学んでいます。そして、それはかつてほど暗いものではありません。

Good morning - my name is Ellen and I am an alcoholic. Very grateful to be sober and alive, today.
Change has always been a four-letter word for me... spelled f.e.a.r. So, when I was prompted to return to AA to learn from you all how to live life without alcohol, I was astounded. Was the fear there? It was. What changed was the willingness to walk through it... into the unknown that was AA, God, and a life without alcohol. What changed was the focus on one day at a time that replaced the immobilizing worry of what the rest of my life was going to look like. What changed was... I didn't reject the gifts of faith and hope that my Higher Power blessed me with on that first day sober... gifts I never asked for, from a God who I did my best to believe out of existence. He has blessed my life ever since... through all that life has thrown at me. Sometimes, it has been just Him and me. Sometimes, He has placed just the right people in my life who have ended up being light bearers.
Change still happens, but I am learning to spell it differently. And, it is not as dark as it once was.
