Thank you, Dave for chairing this week, for your many years of being my friend, and for your service to ESH and Alcoholics Anonymous.My name is Louise, recovered alcoholic, and my sobriety date is June 30, 1972Working with others as been the very best teacher for me...it taught me more about alcoholism than I ever wanted to know, it taught me how to listen and how to be consistent in the message I carried to alcoholics who wanted to recover. The reputation which I acquired after many years helped as newcomers were warned that I was a "tough love" sponsor and if they didn't want to work the Steps as our text, the Big Book, instructed us, to stay away from me.In early sobriety I never knew that working with others was an option. There are many ways to serve in A.A., but for me at that time, it is what kept me growing and coming back. It also has been how I learned about God's will for me, and I ask Him every day for the power to carry it out.Peace, love, and gratitude from Texas.
