ボビー、怒りへの対処というテーマで話を始めてくれてありがとう。私たちは（AAに来て）早い段階で、恨みがいかに破壊的であるかについて警告を受け、それを引き起こす相手のために祈るよう提案されます。私自身、最初の棚卸しや日々の振り返りの中で、特定の個人が時折浮かび上がることがあります。しかし、私の最大の怒りや恨みは、特定の人というよりも、人々の愚かさ全般、そして継続的な苦しみや暴力を生み出す大きな制度やイデオロギーに向けられています。

』の伝統１の章には、エディ・リッケンバッカーの（漂流の）話が出てきます。この話は、アメリカ以外の人や若い世代にはあまり馴染みがないかもしれませんが、そのメッセージは、私たちAAの仲間は事故の後に漂流する残骸の上にいる人々のようなものであり、生き延びるためにはお互いに助け合わなければならない、というものです。これは今のAAにもぴったりのたとえだと思います。

ミーティングで政治や宗教の話題を避けることに触れてくださり、ありがとうございます！頭が爆発しそうでした。最近、それらの話題が直接ではないにせよ、頻繁に取り上げられているように感じていて、正直なところ居心地が悪かったです。

Greetings:
I’m Mark and I’m an alcoholic. Not drinking today and doing my level best to practice these principles of love and tolerance of others in my daily life. Not always easy though!
Thanks Bobbie for kicking us off with the topic of dealing with anger. Obviously, we are cautioned early on about how destructive resentments can be and encouraged to pray for folks who rattle us. I know in my initial inventory of resentments and on-going daily reflections on wrongs, individuals do come up from time to time. But my biggest anger and resentment is more toward the stupidity of people in general and large institutions and ideologies that create ongoing suffering and violence.
From time to time I go back to AA history to recall that AA was started in the Great Depression in the US, and then World War II began and some early AAs went off to war. By the time the war was over, AA had matured through its own trial and error and the traditions were crafted to “assure our future”.
When Bill wrote about Tradition One in the !2X12 he observed: *So at the outset, how best to live and work together as groups became the prime question. In the world about us we saw personalities destroying whole peoples. The struggle for wealth, power, and prestige was tearing humanity apart as never before. If strong people were stalemated in the search for peace and harmony, what was to become with our erratic band of alcoholics? *
For AA to survive and thrive, we avoid getting into outside issues— politics and religion— at least during meetings! We steer away from discussing anything controversial that might distract from our primary purpose. Of course outside the group, opinions can flare and from time to time this alcoholic has had to set some boundaries with others who hold very different beliefs.
The chapter on tradition one in the 12X12 is the Eddy Rickenbacker chapter— a story that won’t mean much to non-US or young people today, but the message is that we in AA are like people floating on the wreckage after an accident, and we have to help each other out in order to survive. Still an apt analogy for AA today.

Thanks for mentioning avoiding politics and religion in our meetings! My head was about to explode. Seems like those issues have been focused on waaay to often lately - maybe not directly, but uncomfortably to me.
