AAに入って1年目を祝って、オレゴン州アストリアからコネチカット州ミスティックまで、アメリカの裏道を自転車で走破したのさ。
中西部のAAでは、宗教とスピリチュアリティの違いについて分かち合った。何をすべきか、どのようにスピリチュアルに生きるべきかを指示する教皇や聖職者組織は存在しない。だから、AAは宗教じゃないよな。でもスピリチュアルだよな。ウィスコンシン州のビーバーダムでは、HigherPowerだったりHigher って言ってたから俺たちもそう言って分かち合ったんだ。
俺よりも強い力が沢山ある、手動、電気、機械、原子、太陽、風、水、仲間達のパワーも忘れるなよ。俺の女房はだらしない男と結婚しるってのに、どうやって家をピカピカにしてるんだ、知らんけど。ほとんどの食事を作って、洗濯もして、週に3回はジムで運動してるんだぜ。俺ときたら、平日毎日自転車で14マイル走って、後はホットロッドのガレージでメカニカルな修理と来たもんだ。俺って凄くね？それが俺のヤリカタなのさ。

In the Midwest, we AA folks talk of the differences between religion and spirituality. There is no Pope or hierarchal body that tells us what to do and how to live in a spiritual way. There are many powers more powerful than I, a partial list including manual, electrical, mechanical, atomic, solar, wind, water, and I can't leave out Lori power. I don't know how my bride does it, keeping our home spotless clean although she's married to a slob. She makes most of the meals, washes the clothes, and has time to work out in a gym three times a week while I ride my bike 14 miles each weekday and later work on mechanical matters in my hot rod garage. Ain't I something? And that's the way it works for me.
