Thank you, Susan, for chairing this week, and for being in my life for 30+years!
My name is Louise, recovered alcoholic, and my sobriety date is June 30, 1972
As a member of Alcoholics Anonymous, I am but a small part of a great whole.I am certainly a Big Book thumper and I use our text book when I sponsor. On pg 45 I am told that "Lack of power is my dilemma. I had to find a Power greater than myself...obviously...but where and how was I to find this Power? Well, that's exactly what this book is about!"And so, I learned how to attempt to guide newcomers to read and come to believe that the gift of sobriety was available to them if they followed the Big Book's directions. Many wanted this gift and many are still sober after many, many years. My motto with sponsoring was "Give them roots, then give them wings!" My part was to guide them to become "God centered" rather than being sponsor-centered.Hopefully, I fulfilled the role which God assigned me.
