私は自分がもっと多くの人々を助けることができると考えるようになり、GSOが私を巡回スピーカーにすべきだということを考えます。
その依頼の電話はまだかかって来ないので、だからこそ私は自分のいる場所で、目の前の人々と
一日一日共に働くべきなのでしょう。

Hi, everyone. My name is Dave and I am an alcoholic. Thank you so much for
the lead and timely topic, dear Susan, and for your cherished friendship.
Welcome to all and congrats to AA (and HP!) for any milestones we celebrate
this week. The program works!
When I joined the Navy and set off to flight school in Pensacola, FL, I
began to imagine my heroic exploits, decisive leadership, and steady rise
to flag rank. I drank my way out of flight school and that led to me getting
sober. Once I stumbled into my eventual career (well, I may have been shoved
by my XO) as a public affairs officer, I got a plum assignment as the aide
to the head of Navy public affairs in the Pentagon. Again, I began to chart
my way to the day I would sit behind the big desk and have my own aide. That
didn't work out as I planned, either. Ha! But it did work out. I got to be
of service and travel the world and get to AA meetings in a lot of interesting
places. And I have happily shared by professional experience, strength, and
hope with anyone interested.
I’ve been asked to share my AA story a few times and each time I am humbled
and grateful to carry the message. But some time after the sharing, I think I
could help more people, so GSO should put me on the circuit! That call hasn't
come, so I think I’m supposed to be right here where I am working with the
people in front of me, one day at a time.
