WELCOME TO THE ESH WEEKLY MEETING

The structure of an ESH meeting is that the chairperson selects a topic for the week and anyone in the group has the option to share on that topic. In order to keep the postings to a minimum for the entire group, we suggest that personal messages be sent directly to that person and not via the Group.

Comments should be closely related to recovery from alcoholism.

"The ESH meeting will begin no earlier than *Sunday morning* anytime after midnight EST and members are requested to post their shares no later than the following *Saturday night at 11:59 PM EST*."

All members are encouraged to share their A.A. anniversary on their annual sobriety date. Tell the group what your life was like before AA, what happened, and what it's like today.

Hello all, I am Carl, and I am an alcoholic, recovered from a seemingly hopeless state of mind and body. Welcome to any newer members, and birthday wishes to those celebrating sobriety milestones.

As I posted yesterday, I celebrated 46 years of sobriety. There have been changes in the meetings I have attended over the years. There are more meetings, with more younger members, and no one is smoking. What has remained unchanged has been the general format of meetings, specifically with readings of the Steps(How it works), The Traditions(Why it Works) along with other selections. Regardless of how many times I have heard these readings, they still have meaning to me. I often need to be reminded of How and Why the program works, and I always appreciate the simple truth of the three pertinent ideas on page 60. (I can’t, God can, if I let him.) The meetings in this area generally close with the reading of the Promises. These words from Into Action bring joy to my heart every time I hear them. The promise that my whole attitude and outlook on life has changed is, in a single sentence, the summery of the past 46 years. GOD did for me what I could not do for myself. So the suggested topic for the week is the repetitive format of our meetings...is there something in the readings that touches you each time you hear it.
