カールが言及したものにも私は驚かされました ... 私たちの人生に対する態度と展望が完全に変わります。私は
ソブラエティ神様・ハイヤーパワーとつながり、お酒を飲まない生活
の最初の頃に何か変化を感じ、それに驚かされたことを覚えています。もはや自己憐憫でいっぱいではなくなり、何が原因で現在の状況に至ったのかについて、取り憑かれたように考えることもやめました。
それは私にとって大きな出来事でした ... 私は、世界が私たちを攻撃しようとしているというメッセージの元、個人的な責任を受け入れないことの痛ましい結果が、どんなに困難な状況にあってもひどい選択に帰せられたことがなかった（訳注：責任をとらない、無責任ということか？）という雰囲気の家庭で育ったからです。
犠牲者意識をある程度抑えようとしたことは覚えていますが ... 私はそれに囲まれていましたし、よく言われるように、我々はしばしば自らの経験から学ぶものなのです。妹にはあるあだ名がありました ... "マージー・ザ・マーチャー"（犠牲者のマージー）。悲しいことに、それは今でも当てはまり、私は彼女の苦しみに心から同情します。これは家族の誰かを批判するために言っているのではありません ... 私は彼らを深く愛しており、彼らの道のりを尊重しています ... しかし私はAAでより健康で理性的な道のりを見つけることができて、本当に感謝しています。
こんなことが可能だと誰が思っていたでしょうか？！

Hi there ESH brothers and sisters.
I also am blown away by the one mentioned by Carl... our whole attitude and outlook upon life will change. I recall sensing a shift sometime in early sobriety and being surprised by it. I was no longer filled with self pity. And I stopped obsessing about the cause of why I was where I was.
That was a big one for me... having grown up in a home/atmosphere where the message that the world was out to get us, and none of the painful consequences of not accepting personal responsibility, were ever attributed to lousy choices.
Although I do remember trying to squelch the victimhood mentality somewhat... I was surrounded by it and often we learn what we live, as they say. We had a nickname for my sister.. Margie the Martyr. Sadly, it is still apt and I'm sorry for her suffering. I don't say this as a criticism of any of my family members... I love them all dearly and respect their journeys... but I am so very grateful to have found a healthier, saner path in AA.
Who knew this was possible?!
