My name is Pam and I’m an alcoholic. Thank you for the topic, Chuck. I’m recently dealing more closely with an elderly family member who is, unfortunately and sadly, still toxic to me. One tool that is coming in handy is the availability of the Big Book online and a 10th step inventory in an app. (I still prefer to read hard copy but am not packing my books with me when I stay with her.) I just read and have been advised to keep rereading the bottom of p 66 and first paragraph of p 67. “This is our course: … God save me from being angry. Thy will be done.” As my stomach churns and burns in the middle of the night again as I stay overnight with her because of her fears run amok. I’m not “scoring” too great on the 10th step inventory these days but it helps me to make notes in the space available after each question. May we all have some peace.
