まあ、なかなか重要なトピックですね！AA（特に伝統３）は私にとって何を意味するのでしょうか？
私たちの共同体は、

に苦しむ人すべてを含むべきであり、回復したいと願っている人はどんな人でも拒んではならない。AAのメンバーであるためには、金のあるなしを問われることはなく、また、何らかの規則に服従する必要もない。飲まずに生きたいと願うアルコホーリクが二、三人集まれば、グループとしてAA以外のどんな団体にも加入していないかぎり、自分たちのことをAAグループと名乗ることができる。（伝統３・長文のもの）
私はこれまでずっと

が大好きでした。なぜなら、AAが誰でも歓迎し、酒をやめようとする人を拒むべきではないというシンプルさがあるからです。

委員会で仕事をしていると時々、特定の神に祈らなかったり、または他の仲間のように神を表現しないようなミーティングに参加した際に、「これは本当にAAですか？」という質問が来ることがあります。私の答えは ... 各グループは主体的であり、自分が期待するような方法で運営されていない場合でも、グループの良心でそのやり方で行う自由があり、自分のやり方にならない場合は別のグループに移ることができるということです... そのことは自分がAAのメンバーになれないということを意味しないのです。

Well - quite a topic ! What does AA (and the third tradition in particular) mean to me?
. *Our membership ought to include all who suffer from alcoholism. Hence we may refuse none who wish to recover. Nor ought AA membership ever depend on money or conformity. Any two or three alcoholics gathered together for sobriety may call themselves an AA group, provided that, as a group, they have no other affiliation.*
I have always loved this tradition because it makes it simple for me, in that we can welcome anyone, and should reject no-one that wants to become sober.
When working on the Online Intergroup 12th step committee we do get from time to time people asking.. "is this real AA" , when attending a meeting that does not pray to a particular God or does not express God in the same way as others. My answer... each group is autonomous, if it does not work in the way I expect I am free to raise it in a group conscience, and if it doesnt go my way, go on to another group... It doesnt mean I cant be a member of AA though.
I was brought up as a Catholic, and had a faith in a certain type of God, however as I got older (and more drunk) ... many of those ideas lapsed. Today I am able to be a part of AA believing in a God of my understanding (or not understanding) , that doesnt have to be the same as yours.
But there are some groups that want to set themselves aside from AA in different ways. To me, they go against the 2nd part of the third tradition
" Any two or three alcoholics gathered together for sobriety may call themselves an AA group, provided that, as a group, they have no other affiliation."
and it is that "no other affiliation" that *should* stop alternatives setting up but doesnt always. Is it up to me to police it? No . I can continue to practice the 12steps and traditions and work the programme as best as I understand it. And that is fine for me.
