Bill Wilson had to be a careful writer since he was primary author of a book meant for a bunch of drunks. Ain't no worse drunks than arrogant Akron tire makers who also doubted God's existence. That's the reason why Bill wrote Step 3 with the weak verb, "Made:" "Made a decision to turn our will and lives over to the care of God as we understood him."
Bill could have written, instead, "Turned our lives over to the care of God as we understood him." "Turned" is a more powerful verb. However, Bill didn't use it. His decision has made all the difference for this still selfish and self-willed drunk. And that's the way it works for me.
