I had to laugh out loud when I first read your topic. Glimmer is a word my mother often used when I was growing up. "I have a faint glimmer that you'll turn out all right," she often said, plus your citation of Thomas Eliot caught my eye. I spent an entire quarter in graduate school many years ago, paying heed to a professor explicate Eliot's poem, "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock." Its famous line often quoted in English classes is: Women come and go talking of Michaelangelo.
