Fellow trudgers, all - greetings and happy sober day.
Spontaneously I thought of the fellowship, the commUnity of AA, and the need to pay attention to recovery and fellowship and service.
If we were all Scrooges, before the transformation, yes, Tim would die, and all of us, including Scrooge, would suffer from isolation and starvation. Humans are social animals. This meeting will die when there is no Unity - only individual attention to individual sobriety, which doesn't exist. Recovery needs both fellowship and service, and they all fit together.
The Scrooge in me was transformed when AA taught me to go from I to We. Service has been a big part of my sobriety and growth - emotional sobriety. I have never had recovery or service or fellowship by themselves.
I am passing on the gift of the recovery, service and fellowship in the intergroup representative position. If two people want to share, that works well - rep and alternate or assistant rep - share the tasks - more fellowship.
