For all its stilted language and quaint expressions (John Barleycorn, anyone?), I LOVE the Big Book. I love it more each passing year. I have nothing against the 12 and 12 and regularly attend a meeting where we read a step and a tradition from it each month. I always get something out of it and from the resultant shares. But while the 12 and 12 speaks to me, the Big Book sings to me. It brought me the plan of recovery and of living that has transformed my life and delivered a power sufficient to recover from alcoholism and so much more.
