において、匿名の「最上層部」で完全に没頭している仲間の皆さんと交流できることは、とても光栄です。なんという真の愛の働きでしょう。AAは逆さのピラミッドと呼ばれるのを聞いたことがあります ー 個々のアルコホリックがピラミッドの一番下に位置し、その上にはグループや、普段あまり目につかない基盤の層 － インターグループ、出版、調整、イベントの計画 － が配置されています。これらの基盤はAAが存続し、COVIDのような変化の時代や出来事を乗り越えて生き残り、さらには繁栄するための助けとなっています。

Greetings fellow anonymous alcoholics:
I’m Mark and I, too, am an alcoholic.
Thanks for the topics of the 12th step, tradition and concept, Louise. I learn so much from you and others in this group that help me grow and evolve.
Recently someone in an AA what's app group I'm in posted Bill W's last message, evidently read by his wife at a conference because he was too ill too attend. The gist of his message was to reaffirm the importance of anonymity at the core of our organization and our individual recovery, but he also emphasized that we must always evolve and not be stuck in the past.
The steps, traditions and concepts show how we evolved early on; from a hundred or so alcoholics pooling their ideas about staying sober and published a book with 12 steps suggested as a program of recovery to a decade later, after difficult trials and tribulations, the publishing in the newly formed AA Grapevine of 12 points to insure our future, which were adopted as our 12 traditions in the early 1950s. And then another decade later, the development of the 12 concepts of world service to frame a global structure to provide mutual support and protect the anarchistic, autonomous freedom of groups that are at the front lines of carrying the message to individual alcoholics who still suffer.
I feel honored when I attend meeting where people who have never encountered AA before are introduced, or when I have a chance to carry the message or plant the proverbial seed. Seeing people who have the gift of desperation and are brand new to AA or who struggle but “keep coming back” reminds me of the power of AA and really why these particular steps, traditions and concepts are so incredibly important.
I’m also honored to cross paths with those of you totally immersed in service at the anonymous “upper echelons “ of AA service. What a true labor of love. I’ve heard of AA as being an upside down pyramid— the individual alcoholic at the bottom with groups and layers of often invisible infrastructure— intergroups, publishing, coordination, events planning— above helping to keep AA going, surviving and even thriving through changing times and events like COVID.
Thank you all, and this incredible phenomenon we call Alcoholics Anonymous for helping me be restored to some semblance of sanity and for being sober today.
