Hi ESHr’s. Welcome to all newbies to ESH or to AA and congrats to all those celebrating milestones in recovery. My name is Lin Chamberlain and I am surely an alcoholic Sober by God’s grace and with your help since my first meeting on May 20, 1985 and very grateful for that personal miracle. Like many have said…the Serenity Prayer was a mantra for me in the early days of insanity and sobriety. I had lots of spinning plates to balance and they were way out of kilter as I struggled with EVERYTHING not drinking at first. I made everything super hard on me by not wanting any part of God or anyone telling me anything and really being mostly unwilling to do anything about sobriety except for not drinking and staying close to the exit door. I could remember that simple prayer and it still comes to me in among some more advanced prayers. It grounds me and I still jump to it when I’m surprised with difficulty.
