チャックありがとう ... タイムリーなトピックです、というのも8月の第2週の先週末、私の親戚一同が毎年恒例の集まりに集まったからです。参加者の年齢層は2歳から88歳まで...全部で30名くらいになりました。私は長く続く酒飲みの家系に生まれました ... 彼らは本当によく飲むんです。アルコールに手を出したことのない者も一人いますが、残りの人たちは ... 依存的な飲み方の狭間にいたりもしますが ... アルコホリックはほとんどいません。みんなに会えて嬉しかったのですが、我々が会う時の慣例で、そこにはアルコールがありました。最初の一杯を飲む誘惑に駆られたわけではありませんが、何度か席を外して、外に出て歩いたりしました。ありがたいことに、今のところ自暴自棄になったことはありません。

Good morning. I’m Pam, a grateful alcoholic. Congratulations to sobriety celebrants and welcome to people new to ESH or AA.
Thank you, Chuck…the topic is timely for the reason this past weekend my large extended family converged at our annual meeting held the second week in August. The age range of attendees is age 2 to 88… and we number around 30 in total. I come from a long line of drinkers…many who do it well, one who has never touched alcohol, and then the rest of us…some teeter between addictive drinking, and then the few of us admitted alcoholics. As wonderful as it was to see everyone, the many times we were together alcohol was always present. Not that I was tempted to take that first drink, but I did excuse myself from the table a few times to go outside and walk. Thankfully I have not yet felt desperate. Higher power…always present…how else to explain.
