WELCOME TO THE ESH WEEKLY MEETING
The structure of an ESH meeting is that the chairperson selects a topic for the week and anyone in the group has the option to share on that topic. In order to keep the postings to a minimum for the entire group, we suggest that personal messages be sent directly to that person and not via the Group.
Comments should be closely related to recovery from alcoholism. "The ESH meeting will begin no earlier than Sunday morning anytime after midnight EST andmembers are requested to post their shares no later than the following Saturday night at 11:59 PM EST."
All members are encouraged to share their A.A. anniversary on their annual sobriety date. Tell the group what your life was like before AA, what happened, and what it's like today.

Hello fellow ESHers and welcome to this weeks meeting. Congratulations to those who have reached recovery milestones and to all newcomers. Not everone can celebrate years but we all can celebrate one day. Thanks Suanne for inviting me to be of service. Sometimes I volunteer. Sometimes I am asked. Always, I benefit from doing service.
Questions I've often asked myself about the nature of sponsorship. It is not explicitly spoken of in the forst 164 pages of the Big Book but alluded to in the stories. We have a lot of good solid long term sobriety in this group, so I'll ask now and hopefully I can expect some very good answers over the week.
I am wondering what traditional sponsorship is supposed to be all about. It would be enlightening to hear how a sponsor-sponsee relationship gets started, what it accomplishes and how it gets accomplished, and if it fades away, what then? I have had a number of sponsors over the years, only two of which were really effective in the traditional sense. I don't see these men very much anymore and they are very hard to get in touch with. Have I outgrown my sponsors? Do I need to get another sponsor or is it enough to just contact friends from one of my meetings just to talk things over?
It's just one alcoholic talking to another sharing experiences, but I understand that this relationship can take on many forms. How does it work, or not work for you?
