Hi, everyone. My name is Dave and I am an alcoholic. Thanks for pinching-hitting and giving us a great topic and lead. I hope Craig is feeling better. Welcome to all and congrats to AA (and HP!) for any milestones we celebrate this week. The program works!
I’m another one who does not make a regular daily practice of the 10th Step. Perhaps someday I will start that. I do lots of spot check inventories, sparked by a sudden realization that my nickers or my gut are in a twist. Calls to my new sponsor generally result in a succinct summary of my part and a rapid recalibration of my scale of indignation. Ha!
I do feel puny at times and sad and even sorry for myself. I almost immediately recognize that this is wrong thinking (my old sponsor, Hugh Moore, was the one who identified that for me). I permit myself to have those feelings, acknowledge them, and then I get to make a choice . . . Do I want to wallow in the “poor me” morass? Of do I want to be grateful and to be of service? The choice is always mine.
