他の仲間たちと同じように、私もAAの歴史に関心があります。自分の
ホームグループAAの中で自分が所属し、活動の拠点となるグループ
と呼べるグループを見つけたときから、その関心を持つようになりました。当時は気づいていませんでしたが、私は偶然にもAA共同体のさまざまなレベルでの
サービスAAの奉仕活動
に力を入れているグループに「出くわした」のです。そのグループの創立メンバーの一人は「ビルのテープ」と呼ばれる、米国のAAから正式に許可を受けたスピーカーミーティングの録音を、オーディオカセット形式で複製・配布していました。グループの集会やコンベンション、AA草創期のメンバーのスピーカーを収録したこれらのテープは、私の（

の）旅のお供として欠かせない存在となりました。
そのグループのほとんどすべてのメンバーが、地区、地域、全国レベルでの

活動に関わっていました。
定期的にミーティングに参加するようになって数週間の後、私はグループの書籍販売を手伝うよう誘われました。販売は主にミーティングの途中休憩中、軽食が提供される時間に行われました。このことは、購入せずにすべてのパンフレットを読む絶好の機会でした。なんという役得でしょう！すべての

スポンサーAAプログラムなどを指導してくれる先輩役のメンバー
として割り当てられました。
月に一度、すべてのグループ活動を振り返るためのビジネス・ミーティングが開かれました。責任宣言やその他（スローガン、約束、ステップ、伝統）の貼り紙が、ミーティングのチェアパーソンや演壇の後ろに目立つように掲示されました。これらの貼り紙の内容は、ミーティングの冒頭で毎回声に出して読みあげられました。
私は、AAの責任宣言は
ビッグブックビッグブック・AAの基本テキスト（書籍）
の第6章の「私たちの本当の目的は、神と自分のまわりの人たちに対してできるかぎりの奉仕ができるように自分をささげることである」（英語版 p77、日本語版 p110）という文章と完全に一致していると思います。

Greetings All
Thank you for your Topic and your lead Mike, and to all who have shared. Congratulations on your 36th Anniversary of the 17th. I'm Tony a recovered alcoholic, gratefully to be with you again this week.
Like you and others, I also have an interest in AA history, and have taken an interest from when I found a group I could call my home group. At the time, though I didn't realise it, I had 'stumbled' on a group heavy on service at various levels of the fellowship. One of the founder members of the group was known as Bill 'tapes' and was licensed from AA in the US to copy and distribute recordings of speaker meetings in audio cassette format. These speaker tapes of individuals at group meetings, conventions and founder members became my standard companion on my travels.
Just about every group member was involved in service, at district, area and national level.
After a few weeks regular attendance, I was invited to assist with group literature sales, which happened mostly during the mid meeting break, when refreshments were available. This was a great opportunity for me to read the pamphlets without having to buy them all. What a bonus! All the service leaflets were given out free of charge, and an experienced group member was assigned as service sponsor.
Business meetings were held once a month, when all group projects were reviewed. The Declaration of Responsibility, along with other (slogans , promises, steps and traditions) banners were prominently displayed behind the meeting chairperson and the speakers table. The contents of these banners were read aloud at the beginning of each meeting.
I think the Declaration of Responsibility dovetails perfectly with the sentence in chapter 6 (page 77). "Our real purpose is to fit ourselves to be of maximum service to God and the people about us".
