皆さんこんにちは。

立ち直ったアルコホーリクのトニーです。今週もまた仲間の皆さんとご一緒できることを感謝します。昨日は、1989年の私のラストドリンクの記念日であり、新しい人生の始まりの日でした。毎日が祝福です。先週バースデーを迎えた仲間の皆さんに、心からの祝福を送ります。

は、私が長い間メンバーとして所属しているグループであり、数年前に亡くなった私の、ピーター・BI に紹介してもらったものです。仲間の皆さんが私に力を与えてくださることと、そしてここにいてくださることに本当に感謝をしています。

今週のトピックとして「パラドックス（逆説）／のストーリー」です。

の第2版で、私は「教授とパラドックス」というストーリーを見つけました。

この物語に私が惹かれたのは、冒頭の「私は広報活動の仕事をしている」という一文でした。ちょうど AA の PI（広報、Public Information）委員会でを始めたばかりで、PI の経験を求めていたのですが、それにぴったりの大切なものを得ることができました。

筆者は、AA がどのように機能するのかについての4つの逆説について語っています -

(1) 勝利するために降伏する。
(2) 持ち続けるために手放す。
(3) 良くなるために苦しむ。
(4) 生きるために死ぬ。

（パラドックス・逆説というのは、すでにご存じかもしれませんが、一見すると間違っているように見えるけれど、よく調べてみると正しいことが理解できる文のことです。私はその意味を知らず、調べなければなりませんでした ―― の他のいくつかのことと同じように。私は手元に辞書を置いていました。）

（もしの第2版をお持ちでなければ、「Experience, Strength & Hope」という素晴らしいハードカバー本があります。この本は435ページで、第3版で削除されたすべての物語が収められており、新しい版が出版される年の新しい物語のためのスペースを確保しています。）

WELCOME TO THE ESH WEEKLY MEETING

The structure of an ESH meeting is that the chairperson selects a topic for the week and anyone in the group has the option to share on that topic. In order to keep the postings to a minimum for the entire group, we suggest that personal messages be sent directly to that person and not via the Group.

Comments should be closely related to recovery from alcoholism. "The ESH meeting will begin no earlier than Sunday morning anytime after midnight EST and members are requested to post their shares no later than the following Saturday night at 11:59 PM EST."

All members are encouraged to share their A.A. anniversary on their annual sobriety date. Tell the group what your life was like before AA, what happened, and what it's like today.

Greetings All

Tony, recovered alcoholic, grateful to be with you again this week. Yesterday was the Anniversary of my last drink, in 1989, and the begining of a new life. Every day is a blessing. Best wishes to all who have passed a milestone in the last week.

ESH is the group I have been a longtime member of, introduced by my Sponsor Peter BI, who passed on some years ago. Thank You to you all for your inspiration and for being here for me.

I have chosen for our topic this week - Paradox / Big Book Story.

In the 2nd edition of the Big Book I found a story "The professor and the paradox".

I was attracted to this story by the opening sentence, which is "I'm in the public information business" - having just started to serve on the AA PI committee, I was looking for some PI experience, but got something just as precious.

The writer, talks about the four paradoxes of how AA works -

(1) We surrender to win.
(2) We give away to keep
(3) We suffer to get well and
(4) We die to live.

Please feel free to comment about this, telling us about your personal experience. OR Choose any story from the Big Book, with which you were able to identify, and tell us about it.

(A paradox, you may already know, is a statement which appears to be false, but on careful examination, proves be true - I didn't know what it meant, and had to look it up - like several other things in the Big Book. I kept a dictionary within reach.

(If you don't have a Second edition of the Big Book, there is a wonderful 435 page hard cover book entitled "Experience, Strength & Hope" which features all the stories removed from the first three editions - to make way for newer stories from the years new editions were published).
