ソブラエティ神様・ハイヤーパワーとつながり、お酒を飲まない生活
という奇跡を分かち合う機会をありがとうございます。
昨日、Lyft（配車
サービスAAの奉仕活動
）のドライバーに行き先を伝えるだけで5分以上かかりました。私は耳が聞こえません。これはいつものことです。でも、ベトナム帰還兵の帽子をかぶり、車にMIA（行方不明者）ステッカーを貼っているそのドライバーが、ずっと冷静でいてくれたことに気づきました。彼は私に対して苛立つことはありませんでした。それで私は、「彼のようでありたい」と思ったのです。それで私たちは、その美しい一日に感謝を分かち合いました。
ですから、最近一緒に住んでいたルームメイトが家賃を払わず、真夜中に黙って出て行った時も……なんと！私は怒らず、失望に飲み込まれず、恐れに支配されることもなく、パニックにもなりませんでした。私は……冷静でいられたのです！！！
あのLyftのドライバーは、意思疎通がうまくできない耳の聞こえない女性より、もっと大変な経験をしてきた人でした。そして私も、不誠実なルームメイトより、もっと大変な経験をしてきました。
シラフでいるということは、成長を求め、学ぶ意欲を持ち、他者の知恵を尊重するということです。そしてこの感謝祭に、人生の浮き沈みに対する私の反応が「酒を飲むこと」ではないことに、心から感謝しています。
皆さんが、私の言っていることを分かってくださっていると知っているので、私は幸せです。

Good evening all... Thank you to Nancy for chairing and for the topic.,. Thank you for the opportunity to share this miracle of sobriety.
Yesterday it took more than 5 minutes to communicate with my Lyft driver just where I was going. I'm deaf.. this happens all the time. But I noticed the driver who was wearing a Vietnam veteran's hat and had missing an action stickers on his car.. I noticed that he kept his cool. He did not lose patience with me... So I thought I want to learn how to do this.
We shared thankfulness for the beautiful day.
So when my most recent roommate skipped out on the rent and left in the dead of night.. WOW! I didn't get mad, disappointment didn't overtake me, I was not ruled by fear, and I did not panic. I.... Stayed.... Cool!!!
That Lyft driver has been through a lot worse than a confused deaf woman unable to communicate clearly. And I have been through a lot worse than a dishonest roommate.
Sobriety means I seek progress, I am willing to learn, I appreciate the wisdom of others. And on this Thanksgiving I am SO thankful that my response to life's ups and downs is not to get drunk.
I am happy because I know you all know what I'm talking about
