の仲間の皆さん、回復のもう一つの節目（今年のバースデー）に到達するのを助けてくれて、ありがとうございます。1990年のこの日（多少の前後はありますが）、私は「何があっても飲まない」と決めました。そしてそれ以降の毎日、同じ決断を続けてきました。35年分です。つまり、12,783回の決断になります。本当に大切なのは、ただ「今日一日」だけです。しかし、それまでのすべてが積み重なって、他の仲間たちと分かち合える経験になっています。
私にとって「journey（旅）」という言葉は、ちゃんと意味を持っています。実際に地図の上に描くことができるからです。私がよく参加している東部のZoomグループでは、ソーバーが長い短いにかかわらず、年数ではなく、「何日しらふでいるか」を数えます。そして、しらふの日数が5桁になる人には「郵便番号に相当する」と言われています。調べてみたら、今日は比喩的にですが、私はニューヨーク州北部のサリヴァン郡にいることになっていました。なかなか洒落た考え方だと思います。

Thank you ESH friends for helping me reach another milestone in recovery. On this day in 1990, give or take, I chose not to drink no matter what, and on each successive day since I made that same decision. 35 years worth. That's 12783 decisions. The only day that really counts is the current one. but all the others add up to a bunch of experience that I can share with others on the journey.
And for me the word "journey" does mean something. I can actually plot it on a map. In a zoom group back east that I frequent, people count not years but days, whether few or many, and I am told that someone with five digits of sober days has a zip code. I looked it up and today I am figuratively in Sullivan County in upstate New York. That's a pretty neat way to think of it.
