最初私は、この『プレイン・ランゲージ版

』は、識字力の低下の結果なのではないかと思いました。次に、これはAAの人気低下の結果なのではないか、とも考えました。法律家のような言い回しや、オックスフォード・グループの名残が、人々を（

から）遠ざけているのではないかと思ったのです。
そして、立ち止まってじっくり考える時間を取りました。
これは私のことだけではありません！！！
この新しい版が、たとえ一人でも苦しんでいるアルコホーリックの助けになるなら、それで十分です。そしてそれはもう出来上がっています。私はそれを変えることはできません……。私の批判など取るに足らないもので……むしろ、まだ取り組むべき自分の性格上の欠点を映し出しているに過ぎません。
私個人としては、いわゆる (
ビッグブックビッグブック・AAの基本テキスト（書籍）
の古臭い) “弁護士的な言い回し”の文章が好きです(^^)。
ただし、もし将来
ビッグブックビッグブック・AAの基本テキスト（書籍）
が（より現代的で文化的背景に即した言葉遣いの）アフリカ系アメリカ人ヴァナキュラー英語（AAVE）に翻訳されることがあれば、ぜひ読んでみたいです。

Good evening all. My name is Deborah W, and I am an alcoholic. Thank you, Chuck, for giving me the opportunity to open my mind to new perspectives.
At first, I was thinking this Plain Language version of The Big Book is the result of a declining literacy rate. Then I thought this PLBB is the result of a decline in AA’s popularity… lawyerly language and vestiges of the Oxford Group are turning people off, I thought.
Then I took a pause long enough to consider.
It’s not all about me!!!
If this new version helps even one suffering alcoholic, that is plenty! And it is done! I can’t change it… My criticisms mean nothing… but are a reflection of some character defects still to work on.
I, for one, enjoy lawyerly language (^^).
However, if in the future the Big Book is translated into African American Vernacular English, I really want to read it!
