妻のミシェルと私は現在、スウェーデンに住む娘のルー（音楽家）を訪ねています。8月12日にモントリオールへ戻る予定です。今は、娘がオーケストラでファゴットを演奏している小さな町、ヨンショーピングにいます。彼女は今は休暇中ですが、間もなく秋のシーズンに向けたリハーサルが始まります。
昨夜はこちらでAAミーティングに参加しました。もちろんスウェーデン語でした。言葉は理解できませんでしたが、その場の気持ちは理解できました。テーマはステップ7と謙虚さでした。私は英語で分かち合いをしましたが、皆さん理解してくれたようでした (^^ スウェーデンの人たちのほとんどは、私が子どもの頃に観たのと同じアメリカ映画を観ているので「Hands Up!（手を上げろ！）」と言われたら、相手は銃を捨てて、両手を上げる（降伏する）ものだと理解しています。私はその場の仲間たちに、「自分の人生を自分で動かそうとすることをあきらめ、人生を
ハイヤー・パワー（HP=ハイヤーパワー）神、または高次の力、自分を超えた大きな力。意志と生き方をゆだねる対象。
に委ねた」と話しました (※1) 。すると皆は、私の言いたいことが分かるというようにうなずいてくれました。

My wife Michèle and I are now visiting with our daughter Lou (the musician) who lives in Sweden. We'll be flying back to Montreal on August 12. So we are now in the small town of Jönköping where she plays bassoon at the orchestra. She's on holiday now, but will soon start rehearsing in preparation for the coming Autumn Season.
I went to an AA meeting here last night, in Swedish obviously. I could not understand the words, but I understood the feelings. The topic was Step 7 and humility. I shared in English and they seemed to understand (^^ Most Swedes have seen the same American films I have when I was a kid, and when you hear "Hands Up!" you know that your opponent is supposed to drop his or her gun and raise his or her open hands to the sky. I told them I told them I gave up on trying to run my life and turned my life over to my Higher Power. They nodded as if they knew what I was talking about.
