数年前、良きAAの友人が「AA for Agnostics（不可知論者のためのAA）」という本を書いて出版しました。私自身は不可知論者ではありませんが、彼を支援するためにオンラインで1冊購入しました。とても上手に書かれていると感じました。彼は降伏することについて、仲間とのつながり、ステップに対する継続的な努力、

の重要性について書いていて、娯楽的な話や逸話がたくさんありましたが、私を引き込むことはありませんでした。
1年ほど経った後、彼が私に本のレビューを書いてほしいと頼んできました。私はそのレビューを真剣に書こうと何度か試みましたが、書くことができませんでした。しばらく経って、ついにその理由がわかりました：

の中心に神がいなければ、我々が行うその他のことは、私にとってはどこか虚しいものだからなのです。
かつて私が誤解をしていた神が、初めて私の前に姿を現したのは、私の30年に及ぶ強迫観念が完全に私から取り除かれた回復の最初の日のことでした。その後も、神はますますご自身を私に明らかに示してくれています。
神が何者であるか、あるいは何を意味するのか、私には全く分かりませんが、私が自分の役割を果たす限り、私の人生を完璧なバランス、調和、秩序へ導いてくれる愛の力があるのだと私は確信しています。そう信じるより他にない多くの奇跡を私は経験してきました。

A couple of years ago a good AA friend wrote and published a book entitled “AA for Agnostics,” Even though I don’t consider myself Agnostic, bought a copy online to support him. I found it quite well written. He wrote about surrendering, connecting with the fellowship, continuous effort with the steps and the importance of being of service, it was loaded with entertaining stories and anecdotes but it didn’t draw me in.
A year or so later he asked me to write a review of his book. I gave the review a couple of serious college tries, but couldn’t get it written. It took a little while but finally I realized why: without God in the center of my program, all the other things we do seem somewhat hollow for me.
God, as I misunderstand God, revealed itself to me for the first time on the first day of my recovery when my 30 year obsession was lifted clean out of me. God has been revealing more and more of itself to me ever since.
I have no idea who or what God is, but I am absolutely convinced there is a loving power guiding my life to perfect balance, harmony and order as long as I do my part. I’ve experienced too many miracles to believe otherwise.
