私はアルコホーリクのマークです。今ここでソーバーで生きてるのって素晴らしい！
最近AAグレープバインのポッドキャストを聴いていたんだけど、グレープバインを読まない人やポッドキャストを聴かない人にはものすごく楽しいし、気づきを与えてくれるんだ。
ホストはちょっと前の”ディスコ”からソーバーのAAメンバーにインタビューしていたんだ。面白かったのはこの人が無神論者のAAってこと、神様とは別世界のAA 〜僕らの多くは神様と成長してきたのにね。
この数年で、素晴らしい
ソブラエティ神様・ハイヤーパワーとつながり、お酒を飲まない生活
の無宗教者/無神論者/不可知論者のAAメンバーに何人も出会ったよ。無宗教のAAメンバーは、しばしばステップよりも伝統に焦点を当てるようだね。これは私にはとても興味深い事、だって、伝統が無ければAAが今まで続いていくのは難しいかなと思うんだ。もちろん、ステップの代わりとして、クリエイティブなバージョンがいくつか作られてるんだ。でも、それが異端だとか「本物のAA」じゃないと考える人もいるんだよね。もちろん、伝統は各グループが自分たちのやり方で運営できるようにしてる。第三の伝統のロングバージョンでは、ざっくり言うとこんな感じだね：

とにかく、Grapevineポッドキャストのメンバーが互いに尋ねた質問の1つが、「AAってあなたにとって何？」だったんだ.ステップなのか？フェローシップなのか？神を信じることなのか、あなたが理解する神に依存することなのか、それとも自分より強い力を他の方法で定義しているか？
個人的には、AAの広いアプローチが重要だと思う。時々、「神」とか「彼」という言葉の強調が、

ハイヤーパワー（HP=ハイヤーパワー）神、または高次の力、自分を超えた大きな力。意志と生き方をゆだねる対象。
の考え方との間で対立があった。そして今でもその対立は続いている。

にはこれらは提案であると書かれている。我々の知っていることは少しだけで、われわれの大切なのはアルコホーリクの回復支援でだれかに何かを信じさせることはできないってこと。ドクター・ボブは古い考え方が多かったけど、精神的な道を探すあらゆる方法に対してオープンマインドだった。彼は、仏教の八正道を
12ステップ12ステッププログラム、回復のため原理、AAの基本プログラム。
に似た精神的な道として紹介した。仏教徒は厳密には無神論者だけど、それでもね。

The structure of an ESH meeting is that the chairperson selects a topic for the week and anyone in the group has the option to share on that topic. In order to keep the postings to a minimum for the entire group, we suggest that personal messages be sent directly to that person and not via the Group.
Comments should be closely related to recovery from alcoholism. "The ESH meeting will begin no earlier than Sunday morning any time after midnight EST and members are requested to post their shares no later than the following Saturday night at 11:59 PM EST." All members are encouraged to share their A.A. anniversary on their annual sobriety date. Tell the group what your life was like before AA, what happened, and what it's like today.

Greetings:
My name is Mark and I’m an alcoholic. Glad to be sober just to be alive here now!
I was listening to an AA Grapevine podcast recently— for those of you who have never read a Grapevine or listened to one of their podcasts, they are great fun and often insightful.
The hosts were interviewing a member of AA who has been sober “since disco” which implies a while ago. What was interesting was this individual is part of the secular, free-thinking part of AA that is sort of like a parallel universe to the more God/Him oriented AA that many of us have grown up with.
Over the years I’ve run into a number of secular/atheist/agnostic AAs who have terrific sobriety. The secular AAs often seem to focus on the traditions rather than the steps, which is interesting to me since without the traditions it seems really unlikely that AA would have survived until now without them. And there are alternative, creative versions of the steps that have been developed, which of course to some is heresy and not “real AA”. But the traditions obviously allow groups to be autonomous, and the long version of the third tradition says:
*Our membership ought to include all who suffer from alcoholism. Hence we may refuse none who wish to recover. Nor ought AA membership ever depend on Nor ought AA membership ever depend on Any two or three alcoholics gathered together for sobriety may call themselves an AA group, provided that, as a group, they have no other affiliation.*
Anyhow, one of the questions that the folks on the Grapevine podcast asked each other was “What does AA mean to you? Is it the Steps? Is it the fellowship? Is it the reliance on God as you understand Him or have you found another way to define a power greater than you?
For me, the wide open tent of AA is vital and sometimes the emphasis in the language of God/Him can get in the way of newcomers finding a way to make AA work for them. I’ve run into that lately and found myself pointing the newcomer, who has been in and out of rehabs and AA for two decades, to secular AA. Of course this has been a tension between a sort of old school God and a more free thinking, free wheeling idea of a Higher Power has existed since the earliest days of AA. And it continues today.
The literature stresses that these are suggestions. That we know but a little. That our focus is on helping alcoholics recover, and that we can’t force anyone to believe anything. Doctor Bob, who was very old school in many ways, was open minded about all sorts of spiritual pathways, pointing to the Buddhist eightfold steps as a spiritual path similar to the 12 steps even though Buddhists are technically atheists.
To me the third tradition is crucial and a big reason I keep coming back. And it’s an opportunity to practice our code: love and tolerance of others.
